THE NAIL FILES

Join butter LONDON as they celebrate the 2012 London Olympics with their Heavy Medal Collection. This limited edition set includes three beautiful, metallic nail lacquers worthy of standing upon the winners podium.

**I have to mention that these are all existing colors. Nothing new here.

  • The Old Bill (summer 2009) | a burnished copper lacquer with a beautiful antique patina. For sophisticated metal heads.
  • Diamond Geezer (holiday 2008) | a proper platinum lacquer, silvery and shiny. It’s finger-bling that sparkles like the real thing, but doesn’t cost it!
  • The Full Monty (holiday 2008) | full-on molten gold lacquer. A beautiful colour that is always classy, never brassy.

Representing the good vs. evil struggle captured in the breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale…

When you’re feeling like Snow White, Prelude to a Kiss is your shade. It’s the classic ultimate sheer pink, and is a true classic. If you’re feeling like the wicked ruler, go with Dark Side of the Moon, a deep aubergine that adds edginess to the set. Have fun with both sides of the classic battle between good and evil by incorporating them both into your look by creating a modern duet.

Todays review is for a very unique indie. Its Cobalt, from Tina and Lucy. If you like blue polish and square glitter, then you will love this!

According to Tina and Lucy, “cobalt comes from the German word kobalt, meaning evil spirit, the metal being so called by miners because it was poisonous.” Cobalt has a medium blue jelly base, with medium holographic square glitter. The polish base is easy to work with and the square glitter is easy to apply. Since the base is sheer, I layered it over a similar blue. Its very unique and fun to wear!

For the photos below, I used two coats of Cobalt, over PritiNYC Cherry Ingram.

Tina and Lucy sell their polish for $7 (for a full size bottle) and $3.50 (for a mini). Check out their other polish, including Cobalt, at their Etsy shop. And become a fan on their Facebook page!

Today’s review is for an indie called, Bubble Yummy. Its from a power house mother-daughter duo, Karen and Lexi, who make an 80s themed polish called, Lush Lacquer

Bubble Yummy is described by Lush Lacquer as, “strikingly beautiful semi-sheer purple base with a mixture of glitter… with silver and purple fine and medium glitter.” Since the base is semi-sheer, I layered it over a similar blue color. The combo made a gorgeous depth effect. The smaller glitter was super cute and really sparkled. While the bigger blue glitter was a fun extra! The formula and glitter was easy to work with and remove.

For the photos below, I used two coats of Bubble Yummy, over PritiNYC Spring Gentian.

Lush Lacquer sells their polish for $8.75 (for a full size bottle) and $4.75 (for a mini). Check out their other polish, including Bubble Yummy, at their Etsy Shop. And stop by their Facebook page and say, ‘Hi!”
