The Nail Files

Today’s review is for Couture de Minnie, the newest collection from OPI (preview here). This limited edition collection includes four new nail lacquers and one new Liquid Sand™ shade. Created in honor of Disney’s beloved character, Couture de Minnie explores the fashion-forward side of Minnie Mouse, mixing pink, fuchsia and red shades with textural elements.

1/5 • Chic from Ears to Tail
OPI describes this color as a, “pop of bubblegum pink.” Its a light-medium pastel pink, with a hint of shimmer. At first, I didn’t even notice it was there! The application was a bit problematic and went on streaky, but evened out after a few coats.

For the photo below, I used three-four coats of Chic from Ears to Tail

2/5 • Minnie Style
This is described by OPI as a, “white and red glitter.” This is a clear polish, packed with medium hexagon shaped glitter in two colors; white and fuchsia.. not red like OPI said. Its easy to apply and I had no issues. I’ve had so much fun playing with this glitter. Just imagine the possibilities! Highly recommend picking this one up.

3/5• A Definite Moust Have
OPI
describes this color as, “fantastic fuchsia.” This is a medium-dark shade of strawberry red, with a pink shimmer. This color isn’t very original.. it looks nearly identical to last years The Color of Minnie, from the Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection (review here). On the plus side, I really liked the formula of this. It was easy to apply and dried very quick.

4/5 • Innie Minnie Mightie Bow
OPI simply describes this as, “crimson.” This is a very bright shade of red, with a subtle shimmer. I was very happy with the formula and almost got away with using one coat.. now thats impressive! As I’ve said before, OPI makes the best reds!

5/5 • Magazine Cover Mouse
This Liquid Sand™ shade is described by OPI as, “strawberry sparkling texture.” Yum! Doesn’t that sound delicious? This is a medium shade of red, with a very holographic shimmer. The formula was great and easy to work with during application. If you haven’t yet tried Liquid Sand™ or any other textured polish, I suggest buying this one.

Today’s review is for one of my all time favorite polishes. Its Who’s She Red, from essie! I had a bottle of this, when it was originally released in the Winter 2007 Collection. This was my go-to polish back in the day, but traveling internationally, it exploded in a suitcase (…tear). I’ve been trying to find this color since 2007 and recently I found it for sale on AVEYOU.com for a great price!

image

Who’s She Red is best described as, “a four-alarm creamy crimson.” This color is one of the best true reds I have ever seen. Its highly pigmented, so you can almost get away with wearing one coat (especially on your toes). The formula is amazing! Its very silky and satiny, which leads to a flawless application. I can’t get enough of this color!

For the photo below, I used two coats of Who’s She Red

essie nail polish is sold for a suggested retail price of $8.00/full size at retail locations throughout the country, including online at www.AVEYOU.com — They ship nationwide for just $1 on orders of $50 or more! For more information, please visit essie online at www.essie.com

Today’s review is for Lilac Colorvision (#398), by Dior. This color was created exclusively for Sephora (spring/summer 2013). This color is literally a rerelease of Dior FrouFrou (#398), from the 2013 Spring Japan Exclusives. Lucky for us, this polish made its way to the United States!

image

Lilac Colorvision (#398) is best described as a soft pastel purple cream. The long-wearing, glossy formula goes on silky smooth for chip-resistant nails. I had no issues with the formula and I even figured out how to use the Dior brush.. woohoo! This is a sophisticated, neutral lilac that’s office wearable. If you see the exclusive in stores, I suggest picking a bottle up.
