Today’s review is for Deborah Lippmann’s, Do the Mermaid, which is from the summer 2013 Mermaids Collection (preview here). I never understood the hype around the Mermaids Collection, until I tried this.. and it took my breath away! This is a super fun glitter, which is beautiful to wear all year long.

Do the Mermaid is described by Deborah Lippmann as, “lavender luster glittered shimmer.” This is a light-medium lilac purple base, with tons of purple glitter and shimmer. The glitter glistens even in dim light, which is wonderful. The formula is pretty good; easy to apply and it dries with a semi-textured look, which is quite breathtaking. I really can’t say enough good things about this polish.

Today’s review is for the newly released Fuzzy Coats, part of the Sally Hansen Instant Texture Effects Collection.Fuzzy Coats transform nails with a 3D textured, woven fiber effect, inspired by fashion. Overall, they are more of a fun accent topcoat, not an actual polish to be worn alone, since they all have clear bases. I’ve never seen anything like these and had a blast playing around with them!

Tight Knit (#400)
This is my favorite Fuzzy Coat! It has white and blue mini bar glitter, in a clear base. I cannot wait to use this for a 4th of July patriotic mani. The formula was wonderful and the glitter distributed evenly. I highly recommend picking this up, if you see it in stores!

Wool Knot (#700)
This was an instant favorite of mine. Its a clear base, with white and medium-aqua mini bar glitter. The formula was great and easy to apply. If you like blue glitter, you will love Wool Knot!

Fuzzy Fantasy (#600)
This is best described a clear base, with tons of light green and white mini bar glitter. It reminds me of fresh cut blades of grass. I had no issues with the formula. The glitter applied evenly and smoothly. Very fun as an accent to any summer mani!

Wool Lite (#100)
This polish is different than the other Fuzzy Coats. Rather than having a few different colored glitters, this only light pink mini bar glitter, which is interesting. Its a very subtle shade of pink and can be worn over anything without being to noticeable. Again, this has a clear base, so I suggest layering it for a fun effect.

Today’s review is for the summer 2013 PritiNYC, Bahamas Collection (preview here). This collection is inspired by the Islands of the Bahamas and all the exotic colors and sights.

image

1/4 • City Girl Rose
This color is best described as a muted-bright orange cream. I really like wearing this color. Its bright, but not as intense as the promotional pictures.. which was what I was secretly hoping for. The formula for this polish was very nice. No issues during application.

For the photo below, I used three coats of City Girl Rose

image

2/4 • Scotch Thistle
This is best described as a medium green cream. Depending on the light, the color shifts from green, to a beautiful shade of teal. My only issue is that this color is a bit dark for a summer collection. It seems a better fit for a fall, or winter collection. Nonetheless, its a gorgeous color. From this collection, this was my favorite formula; it had the right thickness, applied evenly and dried quick.

For the photo below, I used two coats of Scotch Thistle

3/4 • Hedge Hog Rose
This color is best described as a medium magenta-pink cream. I feel like I’ve seen this color released in a previous PritiNYC collection… hmm… its a gorgeous color, but not very original. I’m sure we all have tons of pinks. Sadly, nothing stands out about this polish. I had difficulty using the formula. It was extremely thin and watery, so I needed to layer up a few coats for opacity, which is odd for a darker pink. Overall, this is a cute color, from an awesome brand, but not worth the hassle of application. No hard feelings Priti.. I still love you!

For the photo below, I used four coats of Hedge Hog Rose

image

4/4 • Baby Blue Eyes
This color is just as adorable as its name! This is best described as a shimmering light-medium cornflower blue. So cute! The shimmer is so subtle, you might not know its there, but is a very nice touch. The formula was nice. Its dried quick, applied evenly and opaque. This is a very cute polish, ideal for the transition of spring into summer. A must have for blue lovers!
